Autobiography

My career aspiration is to become a pediatric nurse. I have had my mind set on becoming a nurse for some time now. I can remember when I was a little girl like in the first grade or sometime around there we had to draw a picture of what we wanted to become; to this day I can picture myself drawing a nurse. I had no clue that years down the road I really would want to pursue a career in nursing. Becoming a nurse is one of the main goals in life that I want to achieve. It's going to be a long road to reach that goal but I know it will be worth it in the end. My reason for becoming a nurse is because I really enjoy helping people. I guess you can say I am a kind hearted person. I enjoy helping people with anything.

My high school years for me were pretty rough, I wish things did not happen the way they did. In the end I believe everything happens for a reason and you just have to work towards who and what you want to become in life.

My first two years of high school were what really put me down on my hopes and dreams, I did not think I would become anything at times. I guess it was because of the negative people and influences around me at school that made me believe I could not make something out of myself, even though I could have chosen not follow the wrong crowd. So its my fault too because it's my free will to do what I want and don't want to do. Then my junior year I did not return to high school because regular high school was too hard for me and I could not get the help I needed. When I left I decided to take classes at CMC to get my GED, I found out it was not for me and I wanted to go back to high school. This is my senior year and I am really far behind but I am willing to do whatever it takes to graduate with my class of 2010. This year is going great, I could say its been one of the best school years so far for me. I'm really glad I came back to school especially coming to a school that will help you achieve your goals and help you understand the work they teach. I can't wait to graduate and move on to bigger and better things in life.

The person who has inspired me to this day would be my mom. My mom is one of my biggest role models, she has taught me so many things in so many different ways. I don't have enough words to say how thankful I am to have her as my mom. I'm especially thankful now that I am older and understand life and know how hard it is and how confusing it can be at times. All the things my mom has gone though just raising me and my brother as a single parent at a young age inspires me to go on in life and accomplish all my goals. I know if my mom can raise two children on her own with no help that the least I could do is follow my dreams and make her proud of me. My mom taught me that when times are rough you just got to keep going and make the best out of every situation. You just have to keep your head up high and move forward: When in doubt take the next small step.

Growing up with a great family has really helped me out in my life, just by having the great wisdom and advise they have shared with me. Through the experiences they have gone through so I would not go through the same trials they did. I grew up with my grandparents and my mom. My grandmother is like a second mom to me. My grandfather is like my dad since I did not grow up with my biological father. I know I can always go to my grandparents with anything and they will always be there for me. Once my mom moved out and became independent I remember I always wanted to go to my grandparents house, but when I went over there I would want to go back home with my mom. To this day my grandmother brings it up. Eventually, I got older and did not want to go spend time with them because as the younger generation says “I am to cool for that.” I really did not think that but teenagers like to be around their friends and have fun. I am really the only grandchild that would spend time with them. I think know they feel bad that I do not go see them but I am sure they understand that I am turning into an adult.

For most of my life I only lived with my mom and my brother then my mom got married and we moved up to the western slope. It really effected my life. I hated it so much. I felt like I had nobody. I missed my family and friends so much. I am pretty sure I went though a depression stage. I was not up for anything I had so much anger inside and was mad at my mom for making us move. Now I know moving up here was for the better, and I am glad my mom has someone to stand by her side when my brother and I leave home. Moving up here after being in the city was a really big culture shock. Even though I miss the city I kind of enjoy being up here. It has just made me have a different perspective on life. When we left Denver my mom said “it was for the better and for a new start”. I think she was right.

My interests at this point in my life are to focus on getting my high school career over with and moving on to collage to get my BSN degree (Bachelors in nursing
and science). I'm ready to take all the challenges that comes with becoming a pediatric nurse. Also, I want to become independent and do things for myself without worrying about my parents having to help me and hold my hand. I'm sure I will need advise from them but I will do whatever it takes to try and become what I want to be on my own. I think its time for me to do what I have to do to become successful in life, because at the end of the day everyone is on there own in this world. You have to do things for yourself. I just want to prove to my family and friends that did not graduate that you can fall but you must get back up and take the next step and prove the ones that doubt you wrong. You just got to have hope and make the best out of every situation. Times can get rough and you might just want to give up but if you think about it if you give up you become nothing. If you follow your dreams and go to the end of the road you will become successful. Nothing comes handed to you in life, so you just have to keep going and make your life a success story.

College Exploration

During my last Quarter Classes in the school year of 09-2010 i had the opportunity to take a college prep class. In that class we had the chance to look at different colleges that we were interested in an if they had the certain programs that focused on our career interests. We spent time practicing filling out Student Applications. Ive also has the chance to tour some different colleges an other career options while i have been at Yampah Mountain High School. Such as Mesa State in Grand Junction, Colorado, Colorado Mountain College, and the Job Corp in Collbran, Colorado. This school year in Second Quarter i also took a night class called Mini Med School at CMC in Rifle, Colorado and earned my Mini Med Diploma from the University of Colorado School of Medicine.I feel that i have a better outlook on the college life when i graduate an move on to higher education.
